Dry Fire Suppression Systems vs. Wet Fire Suppression Systems

When it's time for you to select a fire suppression system for your commercial business, you will need to consider if you want dry fire suppression systems vs. wet fire suppression systems. Hard Fire provides both kinds to our clients. But we know that, sometimes, narrowing down the differences between these two systems can be confusing.
So what are the main differences between dry fire suppression systems vs. wet fire suppression systems?
Dry fire suppression systems use certain dry chemicals that will suppress the fire using pressurized air or nitrogen inside the building's fire suppression system. The dry valve will stay closed and water will stay out of the system. Mostly used in warehouses and buildings where there is no heat, these systems are good because there is no water in the pipes, so there is no danger of the water freezing and causing the pipes to burst. These dry fire suppression systems are also good for buildings that have delicate equipment in them, like computers or computer servers. The only thing about these systems is they take longer to respond to fires than their wet fire suppression systems counterparts. However, the delay isn't that long – usually one minute or less.
Wet fire suppression systems use water or other wet chemicals to suppress a fire. These systems are great for kitchens where a cooking fire could be a hazard. They will spray the liquid directly onto the fire. Most people are familiar with wet fire suppression systems, and know how to respond when they are activated. The wet fire suppression systems have a faster response time than the dry fire suppression systems.
